What is the PRF?
The Personality Research Form (PRF) is one of the most highly cited psychological personality assessments, having been referenced over 1,500 times in research literature. To this day the PRF continues to represent a major contribution to psychological testing. The PRF has been used to study assertiveness training, consumer behavior, decision-making, emotional development, employee attitudes, job performance, leadership style, and risk taking behavior. The PRF can be used to assess normal adult personality in selection or counseling contexts, conduct research requiring comprehensive coverage of personality traits, assist with guidance and career counseling, and develop greater self-awareness and understanding of human behavior and motivation.
Who Should Use the PRF?
- Counselors seeking comprehensive, detailed personality trait information on clients
- Psychologists looking for detailed trait information to include in a selection battery
- Users seeking convenient online administration and a comprehensive, easy to interpret report
Why Should I Use the PRF?
CONVENIENT. The PRF can be administered in 45 minutes on SIGMA’s online platform – SigmaTesting.com. Reports are generated immediately. Results are presented using graphs, numbers, and scale descriptions. A vocational preference profile is also produced based on a respondent’s answers.
RIGOROUS TEST CONSTRUCTION. This psychological assessment benefited from modern construct-oriented methods of personality scale construction, including extensive personality trait definitions, rigorous item selection, and suppression of desirability response bias. The PRF measures 22 unique aspects of personality, which are based on Murray’s framework. The result is a highly reliable, extensively validated, comprehensive measure of normal personality.
RELIABLE AND VALID. The PRF is a reliable and valid measure of personality. The PRF has been used in hundreds of studies in diverse settings involving measures of traits and/or behaviors conceptually related to PRF constructs. Overall, independent research strongly supports the use of the PRF in providing accurate information about individuals’ personality and typical patterns of behavior. In one study, for example, correlations between PRF scale scores and separate ratings of trait-relevant behaviors ranged from .16 to .64 (median = .27). Another study reports correlations between self- and roommate-ratings on the PRF constructs ranging from .27 to .74 (median = .53). An annotated bibliography of published studies involving the PRF is available from the publisher.
